Bear Spotting, Whitewater Rafting, Cross Country Mountain Biking,Canoeing on the Columbia River, Tandem Paragliding, and Golf, are all available on the doorsteps of Vagabond Lodge. We have seen bears daily on the road between here and Golden. There must be over a dozen hanging out in the area. And the whitewater rafting has started on the Kicking Horse River. . The Moonraker biking trails are just down the road from us and are fabulous.

High overcast sky's today with a few snow flakes now and then. Visibility wasn't great at the top. I went with a few guests of ours from Australia to show them a few runs they probably wouldn't taken. Always fun to show people the mountain. Main runs were tracked out but Feuz Bowl was still really nice and had a couple runs of fresh untracked snow. Some predictions of a big dump of snow coming Friday. Certainly the temperature is supposed to go up. Today was nice and cool. I love the cold snow. We have a full house with a few Aussies, Germans, Canadians and Suisse. Great group.
Great day at Kicking Horse. It snowed about 9cm overnight with temperature about -9C which meant for really nice fluffy snow. I went with a couple guests, Helena and Eric from England and friend Jeff from Golden for a couple runs down into Bowl-Over and then into double-header. Snow was outstanding with a lot of fresh tracks.
Supposed to be a good dump coming on Sunday too.
Some low cloud cover in the morning here at Kicking Horse. I went up about 1pm with a neighbour Bob for a few runs. It was actually quite cool at the top with a bit of a breeze and temperatures about -15C. I didn't really come prepared for the cold temperatures. As long as you were moving it was okay, but the chair ride was longer than I wanted. Snow conditions at the top is really nice. We had some powder a few days ago and it hasn't been very busy so still some nice soft snow and I was surprised by how quiet it was on the hill. I guess everyone is Christmas shopping. There is supposed to be some snow coming in a couple days. Reminder if you are looking for a New Years trip, we still have a couple rooms left. The resort always has some special events planned with a nice dinner and live music at the top of the mountain and fireworks in the plaza area.
Just found out this morning that Kicking Horse is opening Early. They are going to open on December 3rd, 4th and 5th. Then close for a few days, and reopen for the Season on December 10th. Great day yesterday. Taking advantage of quiet-time. Took Helen our wonderdog for a walk in the woods on Snowshoes. I had the Snowshoes on. Helen was on her own. Fabulous time. Just a few minutes away from Vagabond, we bushwhacked our way through the woods.
The Parson Jazz Cooperative played at the Island Restaurant last week for our official debut. If you are in the area, make sure you drop in and have some food there. Awesome spot in downtown Golden. We managed to talk about 80 friends and relatives into coming and seeing us play. It went pretty well. Shelby Suhan, our 19 year phenom singer made us all look good.
