Sun came out here at Kicking Horse. A glorious Day. After over 30 cms of new snow the past couple days, it was quite a remarkable weekend. Roads were still closed as of about 6pm so we had a number of Calgary guests who decided to spend an extra nice. What the hell. Too good to go home. Kicking Horse elected to not open the Pioneer Chair today for some reason which did cause some criticism from our Guests. Long lineup at the Gondola this morning. Here are a few photos of what it looked like around Vagabond Lodge this morning.

It's been quite a couple days here at Kicking Horse. Blizzard hit yesterday and it is still snowing. About 30cms of fresh powder. Certainly a lot heavier than the last dump we had a couple weeks ago with temperature around Vagabond Lodge hovering around 0C. Roads have been closed off and on all day in both directions. Guests having a blast in the snow. Visibility at the top is nil but once you get off the top you head for some trees and away you go. Regular guests brought all the fixing for a raclette last night and it was fabulous. Cheese was some of the best raclette I have had for a long time. Son Kori took the camera out today for a few shots of what the conditions were like. And they were great. High overcast sky's today with a few snow flakes now and then. Visibility wasn't great at the top. I went with a few guests of ours from Australia to show them a few runs they probably wouldn't taken. Always fun to show people the mountain. Main runs were tracked out but Feuz Bowl was still really nice and had a couple runs of fresh untracked snow. Some predictions of a big dump of snow coming Friday. Certainly the temperature is supposed to go up. Today was nice and cool. I love the cold snow. We have a full house with a few Aussies, Germans, Canadians and Suisse. Great group. Fabulous Day in paradise today. Temperatures stayed nice and cool. Probably about -10C for the most part and blue-bird Sky's. And with about 15 cms of new snow over the past few days and nobody on the hill, it doesn't get much better. Consistent snow from top to bottom. I took some of our guests out for a couple runs. Paul Sacco and his friends from Vermont and Ray from Australia who is with us for 8 days. He is going to be in for a treat, because the weatherman is calling for more snow this weekend. We had about 10cm of fresh snow overnight at Kicking Horse. Temperature is about -8C which is perfect. Nobody on the hill. Yesterday we had some jazz here at Vagabond Lodge. The Parson Jazz Cooperative played a few tunes. We are working with a new singer and was first chance for her to play in front of a few friends and guests. It worked out really well. Great day at Kicking Horse. It snowed about 9cm overnight with temperature about -9C which meant for really nice fluffy snow. I went with a couple guests, Helena and Eric from England and friend Jeff from Golden for a couple runs down into Bowl-Over and then into double-header. Snow was outstanding with a lot of fresh tracks. Supposed to be a good dump coming on Sunday too. Strange weather here at Kicking Horse. Yesterday it was -25C in Golden and -8C at the top and today was about -15C at Vagabond Lodge and 0C at the top. Beautiful sunny sky's. I went up after lunch with some regular guests from Calgary and had a lot of fun showing them the mountain. They have been coming every year and that's what makes staying at Vagabond Lodge so special. And that is why we enjoy doing what we do. Guys like Neil, Bill, Bob and Stuart make it fun. And we had fun today. |
