Crazy snow here at Kicking Horse in the past couple weeks. We have gotten about 2 metres of snow at least in the past couple weeks and from the looks of the forecast the snow is going to keep coming. The past week we have received close to a metre alone and for the first time it has gotten warm, hovering around +2C. It is supposed to cool off again starting tomorrow and more snow on the way starting Sunday. The ski patrol has been super busy trying to get everything open but they are struggling to keep up. Of course our guests are loving it. It is very high avalanche danger right now . The backcountry risk is very high. Unfortantely because of my broken collarbone I can only pass on comments from other people. Everyone is loving the powder.
A couple friends did send me a video the other day taken from Canyon Creek which is on the backside of Kicking Horse and out of bounds. It looks fabulous. Hopefully in February I can get out and test it mayself but until then, I will live vicariously through friends eyes.

Happy 2019. It has been a great couple weeks leading up to New Years for snow and looks like it is not going to be stopping. Around Christmas we had about a metre of snow over a 7 day period. Then a few days later another 30 cms. Obviously the conditions are pretty sweet. January is a great time for skiing here as the crowds disappear. Kicking Horse had a record day for skiers a few days ago with over 3500 and no complaints about lift lines. Things kept moving nicely.
We had a great Christmas with family. 3 year old Grandson Waylon is moved from skiing to snowboarding. What fun to see the future of the sport.
Video is of Waylon with his dad Shane helping out.
