It doesn't get much better than skiing with family and friends. And with all the snow we have gotten so far this winter, you don't have to look too far for fresh powder. Son Kori joined me and friend Patrick for a great run down from T2 the other day. More snow is in the forecast for the next few days here at Kicking Horse Resort. it was a fabulous week for skiing at Kicking Horse Resort. We had some great dumps of snow, then a few days of cold temperatures and then to finish it off, another 20cms of snow to end the cold spell and maybe the best day of skiing this year on Thursday. Kicking Horse is known for Champagne Powder and that is what we had. Knee deep powder that you didn't even know was there under your skis. Along with some friends, I did my best to keep up with them and there is a highlight reel of the week that was. And the good thing about it, more snow is coming this week. We haven't had too many days without snow and have had some great storms roll through. Nice cooler weather which means champagne powder. A few of us went up to T1 a few days ago for the first time this year. As you can see from the video, I am practicing for the upcoming World Freeride Tour event that is coming soon to Kicking Horse. Pretty good hey?? Just kidding. We had some fun in the snow. Right now we have a cold spell rolling through the area with temperatures about -20C for a few days. We are off to a great 2020. Snow and more snow. As of January 4 we have had close to 40cms in the past week and from the looks of the forecast there will be more on the way this week. Friend Patrick and I did a nice run to kick off the new year on T2 and a half. The run is just "out of bounds" and we never recommend doing this unless you have your avalanche gear and knowledge of the dangers and what to look for. We had the run to ourselves. I love January at Kicking Horse especially after the New Year rush. As of tomorrow things will quieten down considerably for the rest of the month and with all the great snow, it is going to be pretty sweet.
