Snow is starting here at Vagabond Lodge. Weather forecast calls for snow off and on for the next few days. Can't wait for some more powder. Bill and Helen have been coming to Vagabond Lodge for 7 straight years from Australia. We always look forward to their stay with Bill holding up the bar every night with a case of Corona and telling stories. This year they were not able to come unfortunately. But we thought we would send them a message. We hope they come back next winter. Click on the photo for a video message for Bill And Helen.

We had some fun yesterday at Vagabond Lodge. Parson Jazz Cooperative played for a couple hours for apres ski. Yes..that's me playing the drums. We are getting ready for a big gig Saturday night when we play for a Rotary Club Fundraiser Gala in the Civic Centre in Downtown Golden.  After a short dry spell, we got some new snow here at Kicking Horse. In some places especially where it was wind loaded it was boot-top powder. I did a run down double-header to start the day off. On the way back up, I rode the gondola with some pro ski patrollers and they suggested going up to Terminator Ridge. They felt it was going to be the best for snow conditions and they were right. It is about a 20 minute hike(I am getting faster) and met up with a friend from Golden Ken. As you can tell from the Video it was worth the effort. Sweet. Terminator at Kicking Horse from Vagabond Lodge on Vimeo. One of the best spots for powder at Kicking Horse is a climb to the top of Terminator. We are hosting a group of 16 guys from the New York Area for the next five days. They are a bunch of buddies who pick a different resort every winter for a ski getaway for the Super Bowl and this year they picked Vagabond Lodge. We are putting dinners together for them including a superbowl dinner with the help of Caroline Green who is a local chef who lives on the hill. Are we lucky or what?? Caroline used to own our favorite restaurant The Cedar House, just south of Golden. Tonight's menu was Bison Tenderloin and for desert Tiramisu. Wow what a great dinner. They loved it. Can't wait to see what she has in store for Superbowl night. |
