Yesterday was the busiest day of the ski season so far. I can always tell but the fact they are parking on the road to Vagabond Lodge. This was the first time that has happened this season. Our guests though didn't complain about long line-ups. I guess it was only about 20 minutes which isn't bad, considering the time of the year. We can use a good dump of snow right now. Hopefully soon. Instead of skiing, I took Helen our deaf blue heeler for a snowshoe. We have a nice trail that starts from our parking lot and goes through the trees. Beautiful. Here are some photos of our trip.

Hope you had a cool yule. It has been obviously a busy time here at Vagabond Lodge with some great guests from around the world staying with us. Over Christmas, all our guests had stayed with us before which was a lot of fun. We all ended up going together for Christmas dinner to Corks next door for a fabulous Turkey dinner. Now we are gearing up for New years. It actually hasn't been that busy on the ski slopes so far but I think tomorrow will be the busiest day of the year if the traffic on the roads means anything. We could use another good dump of snow soon but the coverage is really good.
Be safe out there. Perfect day at Kicking Horse. We had about 18 cms of snow in the past couple days and today it cleared up without a cloud in the sky. I manage to hit the slopes early with Patrick, the owner of Selkirk Sports here at Kicking Horse. Wow. It sure "sucks to be us." We haven't had a big dump of snow lately but the conditions are still pretty darn good, especially at the top. The resort has been getting a few cms daily. I went up yesterday for a couple of runs and was pleasantly surprised how nice the snow was. I found boot top powder in Feuz Bowl even. And of course not much for crowds on the slopes. I know that won't last long. Reminder if you are looking for that perfect Christmas Present, we have gift certificates available which we can fine-tune to your requests. How about a Heli-Skiing Trip?? We can do that. I got up for my first skiing of the season. Flu bug got me for the past week or so. A former guest Brian from Edmonton was at the resort for a few days and I caught up with him for a few runs. I was really surprised how good the conditions were. We stayed on Stairway to Heaven Chair at the top where it was nice powder everywhere. The resort had about 8 cms overnight and over 50 cms in the past week. And after a pretty busy weekend, nobody on the slopes. Our last run was into Feuz Bowl and already the chutes look pretty good. I will hopefully check those out soon. Near the bottom you had to watch for a few twigs sticking up here and there but nothing serious. Another nice dump and all those will be taken care of. A very nice way to start off another ski season. Vagabond Lodge still has some rooms left for new years. Give us a call here at 250 344 2622 or toll free 1 866 944 2622. You can also email me at ken@vagabondlodge.ca And Gift Certificates for Vagabond Lodge are available too if you are looking for that perfect gift for Christmas. We can fine-tune it to your request. Everything from a "Stay and Ski" holiday to "Golf in the Rockies" and even "Heli-Fishing" I am hoping to have my sauna up and running in the next week. Just a few things left to do and it is ready to go. Can't wait to hop in after a great day on the slopes. One of the great things we have for breakfast at Vagabond Lodge is fresh home-made bread. I made a couple of loaves yesterday, just to get my "touch" back. They are both eaten. Sorry. I usually make a couple of loaves a day. |
