We go from one extreme to another. Yesterday it was about 26c and not a cloud in the sky and today it is snowing. Yes we can still get snow. Photo to the left is from today at the top of the mountain. The resort opened for a sneak preview last weekend and I did go to the top to check it out. The video below tells the story. We have a crap load of snow in the higher elevation and it looks like it will be awhile before it melts. It really hurt not to be able to ski it. Kicking Horse and Vagabond Lodge opens for the summer starting May 27th(this Saturday) until October 1 daily. The resort has a great deal until Friday for a summer pass which includes the grizzly bear refuge. You can purchase the passes on-line through this website. http://kickinghorseresort.com/purchase/summer-season-passes/
It basically is the same price as one ride. It looks like the higher elevation hiking will have to wait for awhile.
Looking forward to a great summer of hiking.
I managed to go on my first bike ride of the summer and it was fabulous. Friends Patrick and Al joined me to go to Canyon Creek. The bulk of the trail is a logging road. It takes about half an hour or so from Vagabond Lodge to get to the Canyon and it is quite spectacular. Canyon Creek is a hidden gem in our area and can also be accessed easily by a short hike. It was a beautiful ride and a beautiful day. Hopefully the start of many days and many bike rides.
