The end of the season is near but the snow let-up is not. It was another great week of skiing at Kicking Horse. We had some rain at the bottom a week ago but it turned to snow shortly after and had no effect on the conditions except more great snow with over 20 cms in a couple days. And so far in the past few days we have continued to get a few cms each day.
The "old farts ski team" headed up to T1 yesterday and found some amazing conditions with boot top powder. The resort has also groomed Terminator which is one of may favourite runs and now with the grooming they have knocked down some pretty big bumps. It could be one of the longest groomed runs in North America with certainly about 3000 feet from the top of the run to the bottom and the snow is great from top to bottom. A reminder we are starting to look ahead to next season and are taking reservations. We have an "Early Bird" Special until October 31st 2016. Book and pay prior to that date and you get a 10% savings. Give us a call at 250 344 2622 or email [email protected]
It has been a winter that keeps giving! We had about a week of drought but it is over. 13 cms a couple days ago and another 10 last night and from the looks of the latest forecast more snow is on the way over the next couple weeks. No question it is starting to warm up which means the bottom will not be the nice soft snow we always find at the top. But when you have a hill that offers 4 thousand feet vertical, a change in snow conditions from the top to the bottom is expected. A couple days ago after the 13 cms of fresh snow, Patrick from Selkirk Sports and I went up later in the afternoon to the top of T1 and we found fresh tracks at about 1.30 in the afternoon. It was a Monday after a snow on Sunday. I love fresh snow on Sunday. It was all ours as you can see. The old farts ski team strike again.
