Another summer season for Kicking Horse and Vagabond Lodge is just around the corner. On Saturday May 30th the Resort will open up their sightseeing Gondola and Grizzly Bear refuge. Vagabond Lodge will open its' doors on May 29th for our first guests. This will be one of the earliest openings for the resort in recent years and we are pretty excited about it. We are offering a special opening weekend package for $219 per person which will included a "Summer Gondola and Grizzly Bear refuge Pass." You can come back later in the summer or the fall(up to September 27th) and your pass will still be valid. I have put together a short commercial forVagabond Lodge with a taste of some of the many things you can do in our area, winter and summer.

Summer Opening Weekend

Summer Opening of Kicking Horse Resort and Vagabond Lodge is just a couple weeks away. May 30th is the opening date for the Gondola and Grizzly Bear refuge. And a few weeks later the downhill mountain biking begins too. They will operate daily until September 27th which is great. For opening weekend we are offering a special package which includes a summer gondola/grizzly bear refuge pass. The cost is $219 per person which includes
2 night accommodation,
breakfasts and the gondola pass.
You can ride the gondola all summer long and see boo the grizzly bear as many times as you want.

Something new at the resort this summer will be a Via Ferratta which his a man-made climbing trail. They have been in Europe for a long time but this will be one of the few in North America. They place permanent steps and cables into the rock face. After a short instruction with guide you are able to climb up the side of the rock face. A suspended bridge will also be part of the Via Ferratta. I have included a photo of what they are planning to do. It will not be in operation until July 1. Looks pretty interesting.

Summer opening for Kicking Horse Resort and Vagabond Lodge is just around the corner. 1 month today on May 30th we will both be open for the summer season until September 27th. Two of the photos are from today at the top of the mountain. As you can see there is still a lot of snow at the top. Actually we haven't had very much warm weather so we could still be skiing at the top without a problem.
The other photo shows what will be happening this summer at Kicking Horse. The resort is building a Via Feratta which is pretty cool. It is basically a man made outdoor climbing wall with permanent cables, steps and even a suspended bridge. They have been around Europe for awhile and this is going to be one of the few in Canada. You will have to take a short course first before putting on a harness and hooking up to the cable and follow the trail with a guide. They are going to have 2 different courses. It will probably cost over $100 depending on the route you take. At least that is the cost of the one at Mt. Norquay near Banff.
It is supposed to be open by July 1.
