Canoe Trip on the Columbia River
One of the many fabulous things you can do around Golden BC and Vagabond Lodge is to go for a canoe trip on the Columbia River. You can rent a canoe at Columbia Valley Canoes which is located just a new minutes south of Golden. From there you basically float down the river until you come to the airport and pull in. The owner, Heidi comes and picks you up and takes you back to your car. The cost was $60 per 2 person canoe. Our trip was 3 hours. Great deal. We canoed into a lake, the river has created at one point and some of us(not me) jumped into the lake and went for a swim. Water is crystal clear. The tricky part is getting back into the canoe but they managed to do it without dumping anyone. Here is video of our trip.
A great day today. Temperatures are getting nice and warm and sunny skies. I had a real treat today. I went on a trail ride in the Blaeberry Valley today. It is the valley to the North of Golden and very historical. It was the original fur trading route through the rockies and was discovered in the early 1800's. A friend from Golden owns a trail riding company called Bear Corner Adventures. www.bearcornerb-b.com. BJ is a former warden in Yoho National Park and has been in operation here for about 10 years. He took me a 4 friends on a 3 hour ride along the Blaeberry River. The scenery is fabulous. He can do overnight trips up the Howse Pass. Here is a video I put together of our trip.
Kicking Horse is opening Early.
Just found out this morning that Kicking Horse is opening Early. They are going to open on December 3rd, 4th and 5th. Then close for a few days, and reopen for the Season on December 10th. More snow is predicted this week so it should be an awesome start to the Season. Contact us for "First Tracks Special" here at Vagabond Lodge at Kicking Horse.
Great day yesterday. Taking advantage of quiet-time. Took Helen our wonderdog for a walk in the woods on Snowshoes. I had the Snowshoes on. Helen was on her own. Fabulous time. Just a few minutes away from Vagabond, we bushwhacked our way through the woods.
Ken along with his wife Lori are the owners and operators of Vagabond Lodge at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort.
